- Ariana Grande has gotten more than 60 tattoos over the years.
- Her tattoo collection includes homages to her best friends, family, dogs, and musical eras.
- Ari’s latest ink is no different, as it honors her Eternal Sunshine album.
When Ariana Grande mused, “Girls with tattoos who like getting in trouble” on “7 Rings,” she meant it. At least, that’s what she’s proved to us with her extensive collection of more than 60 tattoos she’s built over the years.
The multihyphenate has gotten inked as an homage to her favorite movies, people, pets, and her own musical eras since she got her first tat in 2012, and her latest additions are no different.
According to a March 9 Instagram post from the Grammy winner’s longtime tattoo artist, Mira Mariah, Ari had an “art girl tattoo party” with celeb hairstylist and podcaster Alyx Liu. She got a few new pieces, including vines and daisies on her hands and fingers.
The vines match some leaves she had gotten on her ribcage in 2019 overlapping her “Always” tattoo (which was in her then-fiancé Pete Davidson’s handwriting). In a since-deleted Instagram post, she clarified that it wasn’t a cover-up, but an “evolution” of the ink.
“Post run thrus, 3 am with @girlknewyork :),” she wrote at the time, per People. “Not a cover up just evolvin. also, our show opens tomorrow. i love u and i’m so grateful. see u soon.”
As for the daisies, Ari herself dropped some comments in Mira’s post, confirming they were a callback to her “We Can’t Be Friends” and “Brighter Days Ahead” music videos. In each video, Ari starred as Peaches, who was partly inspired by Kate Winslet’s Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind character, Clementine.
“i love my peaches flowers,” Ariana wrote in one of the several comments she left, including a shoutout to her dog, Myron.
The Wicked star’s new ink is placed right next to her accidental Japanese grill tattoo on the palm of her hand, which she got to celebrate her No. 1 hit, “7 Rings,” in 2019. Fans revealed that there was a major typo in her tat, which read shichirin, or a small charcoal grill, in Japanese.
At the time, she explained that certain symbols were missing from the ink, which resulted in the mistake.
“Indeed, I left out ‘つの指’ which should have gone in between. It hurt like fuck n still looks tight. I wouldn’t have lasted one more symbol lmao,” she wrote in a since-deleted social media post, per The Guardian. “But this spot also peels a ton and won’t last so if I miss it enough I’ll suffer thru the whole thing next time.”
Ofc, she later updated the ink with more symbols for it to accurately represent “7 Rings,” but it still reads as gibberish or “charcoal grill finger.” She remained in good spirits, though, as she wrote, “Slightly better. Thanks to my tutor for helping me fix. RIP tiny charcoal grill. Miss u man. I actually really liked u.”
Well, Ari still hasn’t covered the accidental ink up, which means she might still be laughing at the entire saga.
